Amazonas. On a ship to link Pucallpa to Iquitos, "the capital of the peruvian Amazon". It's the largest city in the world non-accessible by land.
These ships are the cheapest way to move on the river Ucayali, which joins the river Marañón to give birth to the Amazona river. The passengers live on the boat for at least four days. 250 people, 2 toilets, with two 'showers' inside, pumping up the river brown water. The ship turns slowly into either a beautiful children playground, a giant dormitory, a meeting point for teenagers... I was bored and I loved it. A typical day : wake up with the sun, observe the deep jungle, talk to your hammock neighbour, watch the amazing sunset, sleep. We were all part of the family living on the boat.
